Smyths Toys is the largest retailer for toys and baby items in Europe , and operates over 200 branches and mail order business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain and Ireland .

The family business is managed by the four brothers Anthony, Liam, Patrick and Thomas Smyth, the company is based in Galway , Ireland , the head office for Germany, Austria and Switzerland is in Cologne , and the Northern Europe logistics center is located in Walsrode.

Smyths Toys was founded in Claremorris , Ireland in 1986 and expanded into the UK and Ireland.

In 2018 it took over the entire store and online business from Toys “R” Us in German-speaking countries.
