from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Snæúlvur [ ˈsnɛaˌʏlvʊr ] (* 10th century in the Hebrides or the Isle of Man ; † in Sandoy , Faroe Islands ; often also Sneulf [ ˈsnɛːʔʊlf ]), is one of the actors in the Faroese saga and thus the Viking Age in the Faroe Islands .

Snæúlvur was the father of Guðrið , who later married the powerful Goden Havgrímur .

Like Einar from the South Isles , Snæúlvur came from the British Isles . The Faroese saga does not specify exactly what is meant by the "South Islands". Historians generally assume the Hebrides or the Isle of Man .

In the dispute between Einar and Eldjarn , Snæúlvur took a neutral stance in 970 by telling his son-in-law Havgrímur that he was campaigning for a wrong cause and that he would therefore not follow him.
