Snezhanka ( Bulgarian Снежанка , German " Snow White ") is a cave located in the Rhodope Mountains . This cave is about 5 km from the town of Peschtera in southern Bulgaria . In modern times, this cave was discovered in 1961. One of the most beautiful cave formations in Bulgaria can be reached in half an hour's walk. This cave is relatively small. It is only 145 meters long with a constant annual temperature of 6 ° C and was formed by the Novomahlenska River 3.5 million years ago. Snezhanka Cave is one of the 100 national tourist objects in Bulgaria.

The cave is rich in stalactites , stalagmites and other limestone formations. It contains several pretty halls: the udder hall, the great hall, the music hall which are connected by a metal bridge. In the Snow White Hall there is a sintered crystal formed by nature, which is often associated with the fairy tale character Snow White . The cave was named after this crystal.

In the middle of the cave there are circular fireplaces with animal bones and finds that can be dated to the early Iron Age . The Thracians used this cave as a refuge from their enemies.

Snezhanka is one of the 100 national tourist attractions of the Bulgarian Tourism Association . It is electrified and suitable for tourism .
