The Snowy River Road is a connecting road in the northeast of the Australian state of Victoria . It connects Bruthen Buchan Road and McKillops Road south of Wulgulmerang with Barry Way in Willis on the New South Wales border .

course

The road branches off about 1.5 km south of Wulgulmerang from Bruthen Buchan Road (C608) and McKillops Road (C611) to the north-northeast. It runs through the settlements of Wulgulmerang and Suggan Buggan . At the latter, it crosses the Suggan Buggan River and turns to the northeast.

At Willis it reaches the Snowy River and the border with New South Wales. It ends there and continues north on Barry Way.

Road conditions

The Snowy River Road is unpaved and runs mostly through the Alpine National Park . Like its continuation, the Barry Way, it is very curvy and offers beautiful views of the Snowy River and the mountains surrounding it.

Since it runs through largely unpopulated area in the Australian Alps , intensive solar radiation in summer and closure due to heavy snowfall and icing in winter can be expected.
