Sošice is a village in the Croatian Žumberak .

Sošice is located at an altitude of 559 m above sea level, on the southern mountain range of the Žumberak Mountains . The nearest town, which is also the district of the Žumberak association, is Kostanjevac and is 13 km to the northwest. Territorially, the village is part of the Zagreb County .

The vertical karst cave Jazovka is located near Sošice .

history

In 1830 there were 361 people living in Sošice in 35 households. In terms of denomination, the residents of the place were exclusively Greek-Catholic and Roman-Catholic . In 2001 there were 99 inhabitants in 41 households in the village. In the village is the Greek Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul, built between the years 1750 to 1755, and the Roman Catholic chapel of the Assumption of Mary.

In 1769 an imperial trivial school was opened in the village . In addition to the school in Mrzlo Polje , the Sošice school is one of the oldest surviving schools in the entire Žumberak region. A grain silo was also built for the community. The current village consists of the districts of Boići, Garapići, Gornje Selo, Kovači, Maršići and Tarači.

The water supply of the place was guaranteed for the first time in 1913 through the initiative of the municipality board Hranilović with a water pipe. In 1941 the largest trade fair in Northwest Croatia took place in the village . The most common surnames in Sošice are Hranilović and Radić.

The Basilian convent of Sošice, built in 1938, stands in the same place .

The inhabitants earn their livelihood by working in agriculture, viticulture, textile processing, retail and gastronomy. The Croatian postcode of the place is 10457 Sošice, the Croatian local phone code is 01.
