Shobhan Babu (real name: Uppu Sobhanachalapathi Rao ; Telugu : శోభన్ బాబు; born January 14, 1937 in Tallidevarapalli in the Krishna district , Andhra Pradesh ; † March 20, 2008 in Chennai , Tamil Nadu ) was an Indian actor of the Telugu film. He starred in more than 200 films.

Shobhan Babu studied science and law. He made his film debut in 1960 in Bhakta Shabari by Ch. Narayanamurthy . He first played in mythological films: Lakshmana in NT Rama Rao's Seeta Rama Kalyanam (1961), Abhimanyu in Nartansala (1963) by K. Kameshwara Rao and Veer Abhimanyu (1965), his first solo hit. As early as the mid-1960s, he increasingly took on roles in action films, such as in Googachari 116 (1966) with G. Krishna as the main rival. He also had great success with Manasulu Marali (1969). Although he then mainly appeared in macho roles, Bapus Sampoorna Ramayanam (1971) returned once again to the genre of mythological films.

He was a film couple in romantic dramas with actress Sharada for 15 years . Shobhan Babu also played important roles in Nindu Hridayalu (1969) and Sharada (1973) (both by K. Vishwanath ) and as an aristocrat in Balaram Krishnudu (1992). In 1997 he retired from the film business and then lived in Chennai. He died of a heart attack.

Shobhan Babu has received numerous awards including four Filmfare Awards South, five Nandi Awards and eight Andhra Pradesh Cine Goers Awards (including six consecutive awards from 1970 to 1975).
