Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Sud-Est

The Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Sud-Est (abbr. SNCASE ) was a French aircraft manufacturer . The name Sud-Est was also used.

SNCASE was founded in 1936 as a national aircraft manufacturer. The manufacturers Lioré & Olivier , Potez , CAMS , Chantiers aéronavals Étienne Romano (CAER) and the Société Provençale de Construction Aéronautique (SPCA) merged into it. Initially one dealt with the manufacture of fixed-wing aircraft, some under license.

After the Second World War , the production of helicopters began , which was extremely successful with the development of the Alouette II . The first French jet aircraft , the Caravelle , was also developed by SNCASE.

In 1957 the SNCASE became part of Sud Aviation .

Incidents

  • On June 30, 1950, a Sud-Est SE.2010 Armagnac ( aircraft registration F-WAVA ) of the manufacturer Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Sud-Est (SNCASE) had an accident while taking off from Toulouse-Blagnac airport . Part of the wing nose had come loose and led to the accident. The machine caught fire and was destroyed. Of the eleven inmates, two were killed, as well as one person on the ground.
