Potez
Potez was a French aircraft and aircraft engine manufacturer . The company was founded in 1919 under the name Aéroplanes Henry Potez and nationalized in 1936 . The Société des Avions et Moteurs Henry Potez , established after the Second World War , was merged with Sud Aviation in 1967 .
Aéroplanes Henry Potez
The 1919 set up by the aircraft designer Henry Potez into life company built first from the First World War originated SEA IV airplanes around, had been involved in the development of the founders. With the Potez VII the production of own designs began, including smaller commercial aircraft and military reconnaissance aircraft . At times production was carried out under license in Poland . In 1933 Potez took over the flying boat manufacturer CAMS .
In 1936 the Popular Front government initiated the nationalization of the French aviation industry . The plants in Sartrouville and Méaulte then became the property of SNCA du Nord , while the plant in Berre-l'Étang was taken over by SNCA du Sud-Est .
Société des Avions et Moteurs Henry Potez
After the Second World War , Henry Potez founded a new company based in Argenteuil , which, however, was unable to build on the success of its predecessor. With the takeover of the competitor Fouga in 1958, the name was changed to Potez Air-Fouga . The manufacturer Morane-Saulnier was acquired in 1963.
The last custom design was the Potez 840 turboprop aircraft . After this could not establish itself on the market, Potez had to stop production. In 1967 the factory facilities were taken over by Sud Aviation.
