history

The exact meaning of the place name, first mentioned as Sartori's Villa , is controversial, but it is in any case of Latin origin. In the 20th century the place developed into a typical Parisian suburb.

During the Second World War , Allied bombers tried on May 27, 1944 to destroy the railway bridge between Sartrouville on the right bank of the Seine and Maisons-Laffitte on the left bank, which was important for the supply of German troops. The bombs did not hit the bridge, but instead hit the town of Sartrouville. About 200 sartrouvilloises were killed.
