Carrières-sur-Seine is a French commune with 14,967 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France . It is part of the arrondissement of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and belongs to the canton of Houilles . The inhabitants are called carrillons .
geography
Carrières-sur-Seine is located to the west of Paris on the Seine . In the north, the municipality of Houilles borders Carrières-sur-Seine. Bezons (Département Val-d'Oise) is in the east, Nanterre (Département Hauts-de-Seine) in the south-east, Chatou in the south-west, Montesson in the west and Sartrouville in the north-west.
history
In Roman antiquity the area was called Quadraria . The settlements were destroyed by the invasion of the Vikings in the 9th century. In 1137 Suger von Saint-Denis re -founded the place. In the writings the place appears as Carrières-Saint-Denis . The tithe barn was built in 1250, and the Carrières mill is mentioned for the first time in 1425. In 1629 the Pont de Chatou was built across the Seine.

The church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in the historic center of Carrière and the church of Notre-Dame-du-Réveil-Martin on the parish boundary of Houilles are to be mentioned as ecclesiastical buildings. But the remains of the tithe barn and parts of the abbey are also worth seeing.
