Croissy-sur-Seine is a French commune in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France with an area of 344 hectares and 9,701 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017). It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and is part of the canton of Chatou . The inhabitants are called croissillons .
geography
The municipality is located in the northeast of the department on the Seine , about eleven kilometers west of Paris . Croissy-sur-Seine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Vésinet in the north, Chatou in the northeast, Rueil-Malmaison in the east (Département Hauts-de-Seine), Bougival in the south, Louveciennes in the southwest, Le Port-Marly in the west and Le Pecq in the north-west.
history
In the 9th century around 845 Vikings pulled down the Seine and plundered and destroyed the villages on the river banks. The reign of Croissy is documented from the 11th century. Under Philip III. The relics of St. Leonard came to the Croissy Chapel in the last third of the 13th century.
In the 19th century, the Grenouillère was built on the Île de la Chaussée. It was mainly used and painted by impressionists (such as Renoir, Monet, van Gogh and others).

Famous resident of Croissy-sur-Seine has been the electronic musician Jean-Michel Jarre since the early 1980s , who owned a villa and a recording studio there (mentioned on the albums as Croissy Studio ) and is currently still on an island on the Seine in the neighboring municipality of Bougival lives south of Croissy.
