Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Nord
The Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Nord ( SNCAN ) was a French aircraft manufacturer .
SNCAN was created in 1936 in the course of the nationalization of the French aircraft industry as a merger of the factories of Amiot in Caudebec-en-Caux , ANF Les Mureaux in Les Mureaux , Breguet in Le Havre , CAMS in Sartrouville and Potez in Méaulte .
The successful products of SNCAN include the Nord Noratlas and Nord 1000 transport aircraft (a type based on the German Messerschmitt Bf 108 ) and models derived from them.
By merging SNCAN with the state-owned Arsenal de l'Aéronautique (SFECMAS), Nord Aviation was created on October 1, 1954 .
