Social Science Research Council

The Social Science Research Council ( SSRC ) is an independent, not-for-profit American institution founded in Manhattan in 1923 and now based in Brooklyn Heights to promote research in the social sciences and related disciplines. Its current president is Craig Calhoun .

The SSRC is currently working on four subject areas: the public , migration , global security and cooperation, and knowledge institutions . The themes of the twenty or so active programs within these thematic areas include risk privatization , international migration, media reform , religion and international affairs, and HIV / AIDS disease in Russia , Africa and around the world.
