Socopó is the administrative seat of the Municipio Antonio José de Sucre in the state of Barinas Venezuela .
The settlement was illegally established between 1950 and 1959 in the nature reserve of Ticoporo, on the road between Barinas and San Cristóbal.
In 1986 the Municipio Antonio José de Sucre was founded and Socopó was declared its administrative seat.
