Gustav Schönherr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gustav Schönherr (born August 31, 1889 in Hamburg , † April 18, 1933 in Hamburg) was a German communist resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

After attending elementary school, Schönherr learned a trade with which he could work as a shipyard worker in shipbuilding . He joined the Red Front Fighter League (RFB). When the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) organized rallies and demonstrations against the emerging National Socialism , he was actively involved.

After the transfer of power to the NSDAP in 1933, he and other communists were arrested by the Gestapo and subjected to interrogation , torture and mistreatment in the Hamburg town hall , the house of the "Command for Special Use" . During such interrogation, he was thrown out of the window on the upper floor. The version then circulated by the Nazi authorities that he threw himself to death with suicidal intent can only be viewed as an attempted deception of the public.
