Soest Madrigal Syndicate

The Soest Madrigal Syndicate (SMS) was a 2001-2017 existing a men's a cappella - Quartet from Soest .

The vocal soloist ensemble was founded in 2001 and has since been engaged in a cappella singing, primarily from the Renaissance period. In addition to sacred works and madrigals of this era, they also devote themselves to Gregorian chant , early polyphony, the catches and glees of the 17th and 18th centuries, but also contemporary literature.

The singers Wolfram Herbe, Hans Heyer (both tenor), Arp Hinrichs (baritone) and Stefan Wiesner (bass) received impulses from masterclasses with the " ensemble amarcord " and the " Hilliard Ensemble ". The quartet has already received several awards for its musical achievements. Concert tours have taken the quartet throughout Germany as well as Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, England and France. The quartet released its first CD entitled "Audivi vocem de coelo" in 2007. The second CD, "O Regem Coeli", was released in early 2012.

The ensemble disbanded after 16 years as a result of the departure of bass Stefan Wiesner.

Prizes and awards

  • 2008 1st place in the national competition for ensembles of the German Singers' Association in Sendenhorst in the category "Classical semiprofessional" and 2nd place in the overall classification "Classical".
  • 2003 Silver diploma level 8 at the international "Musica Mundi" Johannes Brahms Festival of the "Interkultur" association.
