Sofie Christmann
Sofie Christmann (née Neumann) (born August 4, 1883 in Forbach ; † April 30, 1944 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
Life
She had attended secondary school for girls and the girls' boarding school. On January 21, 1905, she married August Christmann , who later became chairman of the SPD sub-district in Wuppertal . Since then she has been a housewife.
She was politically active in the SPD even before the First World War and took part in the 1912 party conference in Chemnitz . The couple had joined the USPD in 1917 , but returned to the SPD in 1922. She was one of the leading party functionaries of the SPD in Wuppertal and belonged to the Prussian state parliament between 1921 and 1933 .
She spoke out against National Socialism with sharp speeches .
