The SOFTPRO Group was a provider of solutions for capturing and verifying handwritten signatures (part of biometrics ). The company's headquarters were in Böblingen . Subsidiaries operated in Chile , Great Britain , India , Singapore and the United States . A representative office looked after the Middle East from Lebanon .

On September 1, 2014, Kofax bought all shares in the company. $ 31.2 million was paid on the closing of the deal. In the course of the takeover, SOFTPRO GmbH was dissolved and the register sheet (Stuttgart District Court file number HRB 241831) was closed. In May 2015, Kofax was again acquired by Lexmark.

Softpro employed around 70 people. In 2011, the company was classified as the world market leader in the field of capturing and automatically verifying handwritten signatures. Softpro operated two business areas with different focus.

The "eSign Workflow Solutions (eSWS)" area primarily offered cross-industry solutions for paperless signing of electronic documents, the authenticity and integrity of which is protected by an electronic signature . For capturing the handwritten signature, the company offered numerous applications for smartphones , signature pads, interactive pen tablets and tablet computers with the Android , iOS and Windows operating systems . International standards for the acquisition and exchange of biometric data, such as the standard ISO / IEC 19794-7: 2007 Biometric data interchange formats - Part 7: Signature / sign time series data, were created with the cooperation of experts from the company.

The Fraud Prevention Solutions (FPS) area focused primarily on banks and public administration. Solutions from this area are used, for example, to combat transfer fraud or to secure postal voting procedures.
