The software center Böblingen / Sindelfingen is a technology park with a clear focus on the IT industry. With 12,000 m² of office space and 110 member companies, it is one of the largest industry-related technology centers in Europe and offers its members inexpensive rental space, comprehensive corporate services and good opportunities for cooperation.

The software center was initiated in 1995 by the cities of Böblingen, Sindelfingen, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Böblingen and the state government of Baden-Württemberg and quickly developed into a successful center that also became a model project for other competence centers in the state. One of the founding fathers is Hans Dieter Köder (SPD) , a member of the state parliament at the time .

In addition to numerous start-up companies, there are also established IT companies with more than 30 employees.

The large regional companies Daimler AG , Hewlett-Packard and IBM support the goals of the software center, among other things as advisory board members. The software center is also part of the Stuttgart region's competence centers initiative .
