Solar atlas

A solar atlas , also called solar cadastre , is a representation of the areas suitable for the use of solar energy , both solar thermal and photovoltaic , based on maps or aerial photographs on the basis of geo- referenced data .

A solar cadastre is usually publicly available on the Internet . Usually building bw. Roof areas assessed depending on orientation and slope . Solar atlases are introduced by municipalities , energy companies or federal states with the aim of informing homeowners whether or that their building is economically suitable for use. The first solar atlas in Germany was created in Osnabrück .
