The Gänsdorf solar field with a nominal output of 54.3 MW and an annual yield of around 66 GWh is located in the Lower Bavarian town of Straßkirchen in the district of Straubing-Bogen .

Data

When the ground -mounted system went into operation in 2009, it was the most powerful PV power plant in Germany and ranked second worldwide. The operator is Umspannwerk Straßkirchen GmbH & Co. KG under the power plant number BNA0928 . The power plant, which extends over an area of 135 hectares, was built on the site of the former Gänsdorf estate.

243,936 modules made of multicrystalline silicon from Q-Cells were installed and fixed with 53,000 screw foundations. Q-Cells SE and EMC Electronic Materials founded a joint venture to build the 160 million euro facility . The plant was sold to Nordcapital in 2010 . The initiator of the project was Klaus Krinner , the land owner who bought most of the project area, the former Gut Gänsdorf, from Gloria von Thurn und Taxis . According to a report by SPIEGEL ONLINE , Krinner receives an annual lease of 200,000 euros.

Bypassing the power station with a provisional 110 kV line

The power plant is connected to the grid on the 110 kV level via an existing high-voltage overhead line. The route of the line originally crossed the site for a length of around 1.5 kilometers and was moved to the northern edge of the facility to avoid shading. The laying was provisional, as plans for a general renewal and relocation of the high-voltage line in this area were carried out at the same time. In the meantime, the decision has been made in favor of a variant in which the temporary solution will definitely be superfluous.

Awards

The Gänsdorf solar field was recognized as part of the special infrastructure and landscape prize of the German Landscape Architecture Prize 2013 .

At the same time as the Gänsdorf solar field, the 10 hectare citizen solar park was built, which was also connected to the grid in two phases in 2009. It has an output of 4.22 MWp and is located south of the road between Gänsdorf and Rottersdorf . The solar modules come from Aleo Solar using cells from Q-Cells and were also mounted on screw foundations.
