The Linden solar park is an open-air photovoltaic system ("solar park"), consisting of two sub-systems, in the area of the central Hessian town of Linden .

location

The solar park is located on the northwestern edge of the city of Linden and borders on the Gießen district of Kleinlinden . The first solar park “Auf dem Bruch” is north of the city center, the second “Steinrücksweg” is south of the first solar park.

It was 10 months from December 2011 to October 2012. In this short time, the price of the photovoltaic modules has dropped by 350 euros, one reason for the lower investment volume of the second solar park. The remuneration for photovoltaic modules has also decreased. In December 2011, the remuneration for photovoltaic modules on systems on conversion areas was 22.07 euros. Ten months later, in October 2012, the remuneration was only 12.71 euros.

financing

The Sparkasse Gießen stipulated public participation in the form of “solar letters”. The financing volume amounts to 800,000 euros and thus makes up an investment volume of 20%. The minimum investment is 1,000 euros and the maximum investment is 20,000 euros. This is an interest-bearing term of 10 years. The remaining costs were borne by " ovag Energie AG".

Planning & investment

The solar parks were planned by the planning office Fischer from Linden. The utility company ovag Energie and the city of Giessen negotiated a financing plan.

In order to be able to determine the exact location of a solar park, the area must be examined and the area approved using information in the regional plan. The areas indicated are designated priority areas and reserved areas . In the case of the solar park, no direct areas for solar energy or renewable energies were shown. The current regional plan from 2010 only shows priority and reservation areas for agriculture and priority areas for a regional green area for the areas where the solar parks are located today .

Protests

A farmer from Kleinlinden and other residents together collected 50 signatures, which were presented to the Gießener Presse ( Gießener Allgemeine Zeitung ) and deposited in the Linden city administration for protest. The arguments of the protesters were e.g. B. the unreasonable proximity to the residential area and the inhabited areas as well as the resulting electrosmog from the solar systems. They also complained about the humming noises from the inverters and the glare from the solar modules. These arguments were refuted by the responsible planning office and the solar parks were built.
