Solid multicultural party

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Solide Multiculturele Partij (SMP, Solide Multiculturelle Party) is a small Dutch party that was founded in 2006. She ran in the parliamentary elections of 2006 with Max Sordam as the top candidate, but only in the constituencies of Amsterdam and Rotterdam . Sordam was already 80 years old when he ran for office; at that time the party consisted exclusively of members from Suriname or the Netherlands Antilles . With 184 votes, the party achieved the second worst result of all participating parties and could not move into the Dutch lower house .

As the name of the party suggests, part of the election program relates to issues relating to the coexistence of different cultures. The SMP advocates the compulsory language acquisition of Dutch by immigrants, and child benefit for migrant children should be increased. In the fight against crime, the party pleads for a tougher pace, drug trafficking as well as violent and moral crimes should be tackled tougher. The teaching profession is to be made more attractive and the number of school dropouts is to be reduced. Furthermore, the SMP advocates direct elections for mayors and hopes for a better position for the patient through increased competition between the health insurance companies.
