Solomon Grigoryevich Levit
Solomon Grigorjewitsch Lewit ( Russian Соломон Григорьевич Левит ; born July 6, 1894 in Ukmergė , † May 29, 1938 in Moscow ) was a Soviet geneticist of Jewish origin.
After studying at the Medical Faculty of Moscow State University, Levit worked in the local clinic from 1921. From 1926 to 1930 he was at the Communist Academy. 1930 to 1937 he was director of the Maxim Gorki Medical Genetic Institute. As an opponent of Lysenkoism , he was a victim of the Stalinist purges and shot .
