The Solotoi Bridge ( Russian Золотой мост ) is a cable-stayed bridge in the Russian city of Vladivostok , which spans the Golden Horn and connects the city center and Churkina districts. The multi-billion dollar structure was opened after around 49 months of construction in July 2012 on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific economic summit. At the same time, the construction of the more than 3 km long Russky Bridge over the Eastern Bosphorus , where the final section was installed on April 12, 2012, was ongoing. The bridge over the Golden Horn was ceremoniously opened on August 11, 2012 and renamed the Solotoi Bridge through an online vote .
No sidewalks for pedestrians were provided in the project documentation. There were only 75 cm wide passages on the bridge for technical purposes, the use of which by pedestrians was extremely dangerous. The bridge has been closed to pedestrian traffic since August 2015.
