Solstice ( Engl. Solstice ) is an American death metal band. It was founded in 1990 and released two albums on Steamhammer Records. Founding member Alex Marquez was also the drummer of the death metal band Malevolent Creation on two albums between 1992 and 1993. Guitarist Rob Barrett was a member of Cannibal Corpse from 1993 to 1996 and also played on their 2006 album Kill and Evisceration Plague 2009.

history

The band was founded in 1990 by guitarist Dennis Munoz, drummer Alex Marquez and singer / guitarist Rob Barrett (Cannibal Corpse, ex- Malevolent Creation , Hateplow ). In 1991 they recorded their first demo which was produced by Jim Morris . In 1992 their debut album Solstice , which was initially called The Sentencing , was recorded. Due to internal problems, however, the band broke up the following year. Barrett and Marquez meanwhile played with the band Malevolent Creation. In 1994 Munoz and Marquez played in the hardcore band Anger . In 1995 Solstice reunited with a new line-up. The second album Pray was released in the same year, but the band separated again shortly afterwards. Solstice got together again in 2008 and released their third album To Dust in 2009.

style

The sound of the works is described as a mixture of Thrash Metal and Death Metal, for which the use of fast-played blastbeats is particularly characteristic.
