Somarasampettai ( Tamil : சோமரசம்பேட்டை Cōmaracampēṭṭai [ ˈsoːmərasʌˌpeːʈːɛi̯ ]) is a village in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . It is located around eight kilometers west of the city of Tiruchirappalli in central Tamil Nadu. Administratively, Somarasampettai belongs to the Taluk Srirangam of the Tiruchirappalli district . The population is around 8,800 (2011 census).

The eminent scholar T. Meenakshisundaram Pillai (1815–1876), who was born in the neighboring village of Adavathur , spent most of his childhood in Somarasampettai.
