Someswarapuram or Somanathapuram ( Tamil : சொமேஸ்வரபுரம்) is a village in the Thanjavur district in the middle of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and is located about 200 km northeast of Madurai . The place is known through an ethnography published in 2007 "about the village, caste and ritual in South India" by the ethnologist Daniel Münster.

At the time of the Münster village studies, Someswarapuram consisted of 365 houses and had 1,094 inhabitants - 589 women and 505 men - of whom 860 were of legal age.
