The Taluk Papanasam ( Tamil : பாபநாசம் வட்டம் ) is a Taluk (sub-district) of the Thanjavur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . The main town is the eponymous city of Papanasam . The Taluk Papanasam has around 270,000 inhabitants.

The Taluk Papanasam is located in the Kaveri Delta in the east of the Thanjavur district. The area of ​​the Taluk is bounded in the north by the Kollidam , the northernmost estuary of the Kaveri River, and is traversed by several estuary branches of the Kaveri flowing in a west-east direction.
