The Tanzkreis Wald is one of the largest folk dance groups in Vienna and deals with the care of Austrian folk dances and language island dances .

history

The dance group was founded in 1955 by Hella Wald and began in 1964 with the organization of summer dancing in Vienna. 1968 was Tanzlmusi Forest established. Then the orientation of the annual began Landlerisch dancing , a popular dance with an otherwise unusual high proportion of land learning . In 1985 a dance floor was set up in the garden of Neuwaldegg Castle in Vienna. After the Schloss Neuwaldegg educational center was closed in 1998 , people danced in an inn on the Cobenzl . Later a dance floor was built in the park of the baroque palace Miller-Aichholz in Vienna (Europahaus Vienna).

Events

Every week, except during the summer months, the group organizes open dancing . Open dancing is the usual term in the folk dance scene for dance evenings that are also open to guests, in contrast to the so-called “group evenings”, where this is not a matter of course. During the summer months, when most of the folk dance groups take a break, the so-called "summer dancing" is held twice a week by the Tanzkreis Wald in the west of Vienna, in the palace gardens of the Europahaus, on an outdoor dance floor , making it the summer meeting point for the Viennese folk dance scene.
