Sonah: Rediscovering Saarland and the Region is a quarterly, regionally oriented magazine for Saarland .

Concept and story

The concept is similar to the national country lifestyle magazines such as Landlust or Mein Schöne Land , but also has a popular scientific character. The content is culture, nature, regional products and enjoyment. The topics are always related to the Saarland or neighboring areas in Rhineland-Palatinate , France and Luxembourg .

The title is a play on words made up of “Nah” and “ Sonar ”. In terms of content, the title should indicate that, similar to a sonar, "hidden topics up close" are taken up.

The magazine is published by Sonah Verlag, which was founded in 2017 by art historian and journalist Anika Meyer. The publishing and editorial offices are in Illingen (Saarland) .

The magazine is sold through the retail trade as well as subscriptions and is also available for reading in highly frequented places such as doctor's offices or hairdressing salons.

The aim of the makers is to illuminate barely or only superficially known facts, stories and special features of the region in a generally understandable and lively manner.

In 2017 the magazine was awarded the Saarland Home Prize. In 2018, founder Anika Meyer received the special “Digital Entrepreneur” award at the Saarland Offensive trade fair for founders.
