Œuvres Suisses

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Œuvres Suisses was a joint project of the Association of Swiss Professional Orchestras and the Swiss Cultural Foundation Pro Helvetia in collaboration with the Swiss Radio and Television Society . The project served to promote and increase international awareness of contemporary Swiss composers and orchestras . For this purpose, eleven Swiss professional orchestras each awarded three commissioned compositions from 2014 to 2016. The composition commissions and world premieres were financed by the respective orchestras, which were funded by Pro Helvetia to the tune of 50,000 francs annually for international tours and for young talent and placement projects. The result of the project is a new repertoire of 34 symphonic works for chamber and symphony orchestras , composed by 29 composers, all of which were recorded by Radiotelevisione svizzera di lingua italiana , Radio Télévision Suisse and Swiss radio and television . A total of 41 tours (Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America) were realized by the orchestra during the project.
