Song Shan
The Mountain Song , ( Chinese 嵩山 , Pinyin Sōng Shān ), in China is one of the Five Sacred Mountains of Daoism , of which it is the "Great Middle Peak" (also "Middle Mountain ").
Song Shan is located in the administrative area of the urban district Dengfeng (登封 市), which in turn is subordinate to the urban district Zhengzhou , the capital of Henan Province . The highest point of the mountain south of the Yellow River is 1500 m.
There are many Taoist and especially Buddhist monasteries on the mountain and in its vicinity . These include the Shaolin chan Buddhist monastery, which is famous for its martial arts " Shaolin Quanfa ", and the Daoist Zhongyue temple , which has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 2001 .
