Songdalen was a municipality in the Vest-Agder Province in Norway . Its administrative seat was in Nodeland. As part of the municipal reform in Norway , Songdalen and Søgne were incorporated into Kristiansand on January 1, 2020 .

The municipality was created in 1964 from the merger of the municipalities of Finsland and Greipstad and parts of the municipality of Øvrebø. 6,706 inhabitants lived on an area of ​​217 km² (as of January 1, 2019). The municipality number was 1017. The last mayor was Johnny Greibesland ( Sp ).

Songdalen was east of Kristiansand on the upper reaches of the Songdalselva River. The river flows through a 100 m deep and 1 km long gorge at Mount Underåsen and is popular with canoeists and anglers. Much of the commune was forested; Pine and spruce dominated the higher altitudes, and oaks down the valley. Around the place Finsdal in the north of the municipality was a moor area, in which, among other things, beavers, elk and deer could be observed.
