Sonic Foundry (NASDAQ: SOFO) is a former manufacturer of various media software suites. In late 2003, Sony acquired its desktop product line as a new subsidiary, Sony Creative Software, hired approximately 60 percent of the workforce, paid $ 18 million in cash, and assumed certain liabilities and obligations.

The product line acquired from Sony has since been taken over by Magix Software GmbH .

The current product line from Sonic Foundry consists of the webcasting and presentation software Mediasite .
