Sound Forge Pro (formerly known as Sonic Foundry Sound Forge and later as Sony Sound Forge) is audio software from Magix Software GmbH , which is aimed at professional and semi-professional users. There are currently two versions of Sound Forge: Sound Forge Pro (version 12 dated April 2018) and Sound Forge Audio Studio - formerly known as Sound Forge LE by Sonic Foundry- (version 13 dated January 2019). Both offer recording, audio mastering and audio processing, depending on the version.

history

In 2003, Sonic Foundry, the former maker of Sound Forge, faced losses and stiff competition from much larger companies. As a result, it agreed to sell the family of desktop audio and music production products to Sony Pictures Digital for $ 18 million. The software originally had Windows 3.x support, but as of version 3.0, support for 16-bit Windows was discontinued. Windows 95 support was later discontinued after Sound Forge 5.0.

On May 20, 2016, Sony announced that the majority of its Creative software suite, including Sound Forge Pro, would be sold to Magix GmbH & Co. MAGIX announced via Facebook that their first new version of Sound Forge Audio Studio (Sound Forge Audio Studio) was available. It was released in August 2017.
