Samplitude is native processing software that does not require any special DSP or audio hardware. Projects can therefore also be transferred to mobile devices. The software works on the operating systems Windows 8 and 10, with some restrictions also on Win 7.

history

Samplitude was developed in the Studio for Electronic Sound Generation Dresden (SEK'D) in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden . The first version of Samplitude was completed in 1992. Written for the Amiga by the developer Titus Tost , it was mainly a sample editor with 24-bit audio processing. The Samplitude Pro II version with integrated hard disk recording appeared in 1993. In 1994, the conversion to the C ++ programming language took place , which made porting to Windows 3.11 easier and was carried out in the summer of the same year. Samplitude Studio was presented as a PC version for the first time in 1995 at the NAMM Show in Anaheim . The company Hohner Media organized the sales . In 1997 the Amiga version was further developed by the ACT company into SamplitudeOpus and in 1998 a new version of Samplitude with native 32-bit floating point processing of the audio data was presented.

The first version of Sequoia was developed in 2000. Sequoia is an extension of Samplitude, specializing in the areas of media and post-production , broadcast and mastering and is therefore particularly relevant for the professional and broadcasting sectors . Samplitude and Sequoia have been in sales at Magix GmbH & Co. KGaA since 2000 .

The current version is Samplitude Pro X5. In addition to the standard version Samplitude Pro X5 (RRP 399.00 €) there is also an extended version Samplitude Pro X5 Suite (RRP 599.00 €) and Sequoia (RRP 2975.00 €). Functional scope and equipment

Samplitude works non-destructively , which means that the manipulations are applied virtually and the original files are retained during processing. The functional scope of Samplitude extends to recording , editing, mixing and mastering of music and voice recordings. All cuts, crossfades and effects are calculated in real time. Editing in Samplitude can be based on both objects and tracks. The CD / DVD burning process takes place directly from the multi-track project, including all effects, apertures and plug-in settings. The CDs produced are Red Book compatible and can be sent directly to a press shop for reproduction. They can also be equipped with copy protection , UPC / EAN , international standard recording codes , pre-emphasis and CD-Text.

The equipment includes a digital mixer, piano roll, multi-track recorder, 6-band equalizer (EQ116), crossfade editor, various dynamics processors, reverb and delay, real-time room simulator and high-end mastering effects. There are also restoration tools and a time stretching / pitch shifting algorithm in various quality levels. The software integrates MIDI functionality, VST instruments and ReWire . In addition, there is the virtual guitar amplifier simulation Vandal (Pro Version) or the slightly slimmed-down version Vandal SE in the standard version. With the latter, certain settings can only be selected using defined default settings. The Independence sampler is also supplied with Samplitude . The size of the sample database differs depending on the version. Further components are a sound library and various software synthesizers .

According to the manufacturer, Samplitude and Sequoia can be operated barrier-free .
