The central shadow area began in the Pacific , crossed today's states of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela and then the Atlantic, passed through the Iberian Peninsula , crossed the Balearic Islands , Sardinia , Sicily and Crete and finally ended in the Mediterranean .

Historical remarks

Plutarch reports that the Eudoxos disciple Helikon of Kyzikos predicted this solar eclipse. This is in addition to the solar eclipse predicted by Thales von Milet on May 28, 585 BC. Chr. The second known, successfully predicted eclipse.
