Sonny Sandoval (born May 16, 1974 in San Diego , California ; actually Paul Joshua Sandoval ) is an American singer and rapper . Nicknamed "Sonny" he is a founding member and singer of the alternative metal band POD. Since 2008 he has been part of The Whosoevers .

Life

Sandoval's father is Mexican of Italian descent while his mother is of Hawaiian roots. Sandoval grew up in Otay Mesa , a suburb in the south of San Diego. At the age of 13, he joined a gang and began using alcohol and other drugs. In 1992, his mother died of leukemia at the age of 37 . During his mother's illness, he was strongly influenced by the Christian faith. He changed and tried his hand at being a rapper. He also tried reggae, rock, and rap.

Sandoval married in 1996. He and his wife have two daughters and a son.
