Sontheimer Strasse 3 and 5 (Heilbronn)
The semi-detached house Sontheimer Straße 3 and 5 is a Wilhelminian style building in Heilbronn . The building is one of the “partly listed buildings, partly also classified as important for urban planning” in the redevelopment area Rathenauplatz , Quadrant IV , which have been redeveloped in recent years.
history
Building half No. 3 of the duplex was built in 1898, as was the other half No. 5. In 1950 the Schauer hairdressing salon was located on the first floor of No. 3, and No. 5 was a shop for milk and dairy products. The upper floors were rented. In 1961 the Schauer hairdressing salon continued and a shop for bicycles and stationery was moved to No. 5. In 1973 a brothel was opened in No. 3, the brothel was known under the abbreviation S 3 . After the neighbors on Sontheimer Strasse protested against the opening of the brothel on January 22nd of the same year, the city applied for the establishment to be closed. The police then closed S 3 on February 5, 1973. The tenant of S 3 then sued the administrative court, which on February 12, 1973 approved the brothel. The S 3 was called the Eros Center in northern Germany . There was also a brothel in the neighboring building at Sontheimer Straße 7-9 , which was also known as S 7 . The brothel leader Der Strich judged “Sontheimer Strasse No. 3” in 1984: The house makes a very bad impression - dirty and depraved - but the girls are very good. About 20 love girls are here. For the normal number they charge 30 marks (but you have to pay 50). For 70 marks it's naked and a little French. For a blue one you are served quite well.
By 1999 (after other sources 1998) the city Heilbronn bought the building and closed the S 3 is now final. In 2004 the municipality sold the Wilhelminian-style building to investors from Bietigheim-Bissingen and Bönnigheim, who wanted to restore the buildings true to the original, for which the municipality made 400,000 euros available. The building, which has now been renovated, is used for residential purposes.

The facade design is rich in contrast and has been designed in the typical brick construction with symmetrical and horizontally emphasized facade structuring by cornice strips. The colored exposed bricks come from the Böckingen brickworks . Strong segmental arches serve as the crowning of the windows. The facade is structured towards Sontheimer Straße by two side elevations with twin windows, with each side elevation having a dwelling at the top.
