Soos (Sparta)
Soos ( Greek Σόος ) was a mythical king of ancient Sparta in the mid-11th century BC. Chr.
Soos was a member of the Spartan royal house of the Eurypontids . In Herodotus is not mentioned, however, the younger son of sources Procles and father of Eurypon inserted into the ruler lists. The mythical figure could be traced back to a historical person, since the reign of Soos is among other things ascribed to the enslavement of the helots and Plato knows a respected Spartan by the name of Sous (contracted for Soos).
