Sophie Cluzel (born January 7, 1961 in Marseille ) is a French activist and politician.

In 2017, she was appointed Secretary of State for the Disabled in the Édouard Philippe government, chaired by Emmanuel Macron .

Life

Sophie Cluzel studied management at the Euromed Business School , a grande école that is now called KEDGE Business School . Later she worked as a manager.

She is married and has four children, including a daughter with Down syndrome , born in 1995, named Julia. In 1998, Sophie Cluzel gave up her job as a manager, devoted herself more to her daughter and was socially committed to the disabled.

She became the founder or president of various associations for the education of disabled children. She participated in the drafting and implementation of a law on equality and equal opportunities for people with disabilities, which was passed in 2005. In January 2012 (in collaboration with around fifty associations) it drew up a series of proposals for better integration of young people with disabilities into society. These proposals were sent to the candidates for the 2012 presidential election in France .

On May 17, 2017, she became State Secretary for Disabled People and the Fight against Exclusion in the Philippe I cabinet . She was confirmed in this position in June 2017 in the Philippe II cabinet.

The fourth autism plan (2018-2022) was presented in April 2018. The budget rose to 344 million euros. However, it is considered inadequate like the education of autistic children, of whom only about 30% are in a daycare center and about 40% in a kindergarten.
