Sophus Schandorph
Sophus Christian Frederik Schandorph (born May 8, 1836 in Ringsted , † January 1, 1901 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish writer.
Life
Schandorph studied theology in Copenhagen, but then switched to Romance studies and finished his studies with a dissertation on Italian literature. Then he found his livelihood as a language teacher. Schandorph was one of the poets of the modern breakthrough of 1871, all of whom were based on Georg Brandes . Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenew and Émile Zola also influenced Shandorph. This is clearly noticeable in his novels (e.g. Thomas Friis' History ).
