Soroti is a city in eastern Uganda with over 43,312 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Soroti district of the same name and the center of the Teso people .
Until the closure of the railway line due to the attacks by the LRA, the city had a connection to a railway line from Pakwach to Mbale , which was only used for freight traffic. There is also an airplane runway and the only military and civil flight school in Uganda.
