Sosibios (son)
Sosibios ( Greek Σωσίβιος) was a politician of the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire and around 200 BC. Regent of King Ptolemy V. His father was the politician Sosibios .
During the reign of Agathocles Sosibios held the position of a somatophylax (bodyguard) of the king. After the death of his father, he took part in the overthrow of Agathocles, who had turned the people against him through mismanagement. Together with General Tlepolemus , Sosibios overthrew Agathocles and rose in 201 BC. To a high, but not more detailed position ( hypomnematographos , "recorder of memories"). In the same year he was ousted by Tlepolemos and probably died in the same year.
