Sositheos
Sositheos (Greek Σωσίθεος Sōsítheos ) was a Greek tragic poet . He lived in the first half of the 3rd century BC. Its origin is not exactly known ( Syracuse , Athens or Alexandria Troas ). He belonged to the Pleias and was a rival of Homero of Byzantium .
Sositheos is considered to be the restorer of the satyr game . Only sparse fragments of his dramas have survived. The best known of the satyr games is Daphnis or Lityerses ; the main characters are the king Lityerses, the shepherd Daphnis and the hero Heracles , who overcomes and beheads the evil king.
