Soterus
Soterus , also Soter , († 174 or 175) also known as the Pope of Mercy , was bishop of Rome from 166 to 174 or 175.
Soter was born in Fondi ( Italy ) and, according to legend, died as a martyr during the persecution of Christians under Marcus Aurelius . He was buried in the Catacomb of Calixtus in Rome .
His feast day is April 22nd. Soter ( Greek Σωτήρ ) means savior, savior, redeemer .
