The Sotir ( Greek Σωτήρ = savior ) was a brig of the navy of the Greek freedom fighters . It was originally the French warship Sauveur , which was bought by French and Swiss Philhellenes in 1826 for 260,000 francs . The Greek name is a translation of the French name.

The English captain Thomas had the ship fitted out in Marseille . Thomas Cochrane met Captain George Thomas in Saint-Tropez and on February 23, 1827 they sailed to Greece with the brig Sotir and the schooners Unicorn and Union . On March 13, 1827 they reached the port of Poros .

On 29./30. September 1827 the Sotir supported the Karteria in the attack on the port of Itea . On January 6, 1828, the Sotir sank in storms near Chios .
