Sotirios Sotiropoulos

Sotirios Sotiropoulos ( Greek : Σωτήριος Σωτηρόπουλος) (* 1831 in Nafplio ( Argolis ); † 1898 in Athens ) was a Greek politician and briefly Prime Minister .

After attending school, he completed a law degree .

He began his political career in 1863 when he was elected a member of the Constitutional Convention. In 1865 he was elected a member of the National Assembly (Voulí ton Ellínon) , to which he belonged until his death.

In 1864 he was appointed Minister of Economic Affairs for the first time. After the parliamentary elections of 1865, 1870, 1876, 1877 and 1880 he always held this office in the ten cabinets of Prime Minister Alexandros Koumoundouros (March to November 1865, November 1865, December 1866 to January 1868, December 1870 to November 1871, October 1875 to December 1876, December 1876 to March 1877, June 1877, September 1877 to November 1878, November 1878 to March 1880 and October 1880 to March 1882).

On May 15, 1893, Sotiropoulos was appointed Prime Minister by King George I. However, he resigned from this office on November 11, 1893.

He was later the victim of a kidnapping, which he reported in a book.
