sound: frame refers to an annual audiovisual festival in Vienna ( Austria ), an artist and event agency and an international network of audiovisual artists , musicians , visualists and visual jockeys . The festival was founded in 2007 by the Viennese art historian Eva Fischer and has been implemented annually by a large team since then.

concept

The festival deals with audiovisual forms of expression in the art and cultural context. The name stands for the equivalent combination of music ( sound = smallest part of music) and moving image ( frame = single image (film) ).

The bringing together of protagonists from the fields of visualization, music, media art , architecture and design form the basis for the thematic orientation sound: frames. The festival comprises various formats such as exhibitions, live performance programs and events as well as a workshop, screening and conference program. Both the direction of the festival and that of the agency span an arc between art and entertainment formats. The focus is on the museum and theoretical area, as well as on performance programs in the club and theater context.

The festival has between 8,000 and 13,000 visitors each year.

Sound: frame plays an important international role in the audiovisual art genre. The festival has been doing basic scientific work since 2007, which is important for the genre in a practical, discursive and university context.

Agency for contemporary curating in audovisual art & culture - sound: frame AV is an Austrian agency with a focus on current international audiovisual and interdisciplinary art and culture. The area of ​​activity includes the content curation as well as the organizational realization of international exhibitions, events and discourse programs.

Initiator and artistic director

Eva Fischer lives and works in Vienna. She studied art history in Graz, Utrecht and Vienna. From 2002 to 2007 she worked in art education for the Neue Galerie Graz and for the Kunsthalle / MQ Vienna. Since 2006 she has been working as a freelance curator, initiator and artistic director of the festival in Vienna and since 2006 herself as a visualist. Since 2011 she has been teaching “Audiovisual Media” at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , and since 2014 she has been teaching “Experimental Media” at the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten .
